| Discuss the newest $600 video cards, DDR3 RAM, and quadrillion-core CPUs. Post your specs, your dream specs, discuss builds for different uses. You can even talk about pre-fab HPs, Dells, Sonys, etc. My current system: HP desktop Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.83GHz 2GB DDR2 400MHz(might be 600) 250GB HDD, 500GB HDD Geforce 7500LE Hopefully by the end of this year: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz 4GB DDR2 800MHz 1TB HDD Geforce 8800GT, maybe Radeon HD4870 Not getting GTX280 or HD4870X2 'cause I'm not hardcore gamer with money to burn. If I ever get another laptop, it's going to be a subnote. I stopped toting my 14.1" laptop to school this semester. lol I used to care a lot about processors and video cards, but now my focus is hard drives. I can never have enough memory! Once you go 720P, it's hard to go back... _________________ Mike Yass

| LOL... i used to be quite the PC freak, but even for me it's impossible to keep up with new tech... I could get back itno it quite easily... But to talk hard drives, i'm running over 4.5TB all in all, that's with a mix of 200-1TB drives in IDE/SATA/USB enclosures _________________ -=|DC5-S # 1621|=- | 2004 Arctic Blue Pearl RSX Type-S | BluefiBluefi's back, but still has some healing to do... in time girl... |

| My HP is so crappy that I can't add another hard drive. I'd get a NAS, but they're expensive. I'm definitely going to get a big case for my next build. I'm not a big fan of externals anymore. They're big and heavy and if I needed to move stuff, there are flash drives that can easily move an entire series or a bunch of movies. _________________ Mike Yass

They are usually 1 step behind in technology, cuz after making it, they have to cram it into a smaller package with respects to battery life as well.
None the less.... laptops these days are rivalling desktops as well...
I guess i'll be the resident PC freak here..._________________ -=|DC5-S # 1621|=- | 2004 Arctic Blue Pearl RSX Type-S | BluefiBluefi's back, but still has some healing to do... in time girl... |

DDR400!? are you kidding me... these days DDR2 is almost dead, and DDR3 is almost on it's way out.
ASUS mobo are good, but usually newer ones got tons of great features, I'd look $100-150 pricerange for mobo, as they do a lot, onboard sound, nic, firewire, usb etc.
Quad core is the way to go _________________ -=|DC5-S # 1621|=- | 2004 Arctic Blue Pearl RSX Type-S | BluefiBluefi's back, but still has some healing to do... in time girl... |
